KAP Art Inc. is located in Coburg, Oregon farm country, amongst fields of kiwis, grass seed, and grass-for-sod as well as some roaming livestock. Our office, which is built on property belonging to KAP Art’s owner Katy, looks out onto a field where we frequently see deer roaming and dogs playing. We even have a view of chickens in their coop. If you haven’t been to our office it would be a worthwhile trip, especially on a beautiful sunny day. Just don’t park in the field.
Not too long ago one of the tall fir trees on the property required trimming. The remnants left behind included large branches slated for firewood. Typically driving a pickup truck out into the field is not a problem, and in an effort to position the truck in close proximity to the branches soon to be firewood, field driving was necessary. Due to the increased amount of precipitation over these last few months the ground was a lot softer than expected, and here begins the unfortunate series of events….
It was a weekday, and all of KAP Art was present to witness the events of the day. First enter the truck, lightly loaded with only a chainsaw. It had only been driven for a few moments before it got stuck in what had seemed to be firm ground. Next, Katy, in a skirt and blazer more appropriate for client meetings, came to the rescue on her tractor. With chain in hand, she hooked the tractor up to the small truck and proceeded to pull, unsuccessfully. Then came the tow truck, which attached a winch to the pickup and also made efforts to save the day. Unfortunately it got stuck as well. The ongoing comedy of errors ended with the call for another tow truck to pull both vehicles from the soggy earth. Success!
You just never know what each day may hold. There will always be fires to put out, and emergencies to tend to. Most days are uneventful here at KAP Art, and we are content to enjoy our surroundings while attending to the needs of the day. But we invite you to bring it on. We are always at the ready to face any challenge that comes our way.
